Anthurium Plant Care
Place your Anthurium in bright, indirect light.
- Light
- Bright, indirect light — it will tolerate medium light but produces the most blooms with plenty of filtered sun. Avoid direct sunlight as it will scorch the glossy leaves and vibrant spathes.
- Water
- Water every 1–2 weeks, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom and always empty the saucer to prevent root rot — Anthuriums do not like wet feet.
- Humidity
- They thrive in humidity, so mist the leaves regularly, place them on a pebble tray with water, or keep them near a humidifier.
- Feeding
- Feed with a high-phosphorus liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and summer to encourage continuous blooming. With the right care your Anthurium can bloom multiple times throughout the year.
- Maintenance
- Wipe the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to keep them clean and glossy.

Yes—Anthuriums are toxic to both humans and pets. All parts of the plant contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause intense mouth and throat irritation, swelling, drooling, nausea, and vomiting if ingested. Skin and eye irritation can also occur upon contact with the sap. Keep out of reach of children, cats, and dogs and wash hands thoroughly after handling.
