Polly Alocasia Plant Care
Place your Polly Alocasia in bright, indirect light.
- Light
- Bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight as it will scorch the dramatic, dark green leaves.
- Water
- Water every 1–2 weeks, keeping the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings and always ensure the pot drains well to prevent root rot.
- Humidity
- Polly Alocasias love humidity; mist the leaves regularly, place the pot on a pebble tray with water, or keep it near a humidifier.
- Feeding
- Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer once a month during spring and summer.
- Maintenance
- Wipe the leaves occasionally with a damp cloth to keep them clean and allow the plant to absorb light fully.
Toxicity
Toxic
Yes—Polly Alocasia is toxic to both humans and pets. All parts of the plant contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause intense mouth and throat irritation, swelling, nausea, and vomiting if ingested. Skin and eye irritation can also occur upon contact with the sap. Keep out of reach of children, cats, and dogs. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.
