ZZ Plant Care
Place your ZZ plant in low to bright indirect light.
- Light
- Low to bright indirect light; it thrives in almost any indoor lighting condition, making it a great low-maintenance choice.
- Water
- Water every 2–3 weeks, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings. ZZ plants store water in their roots, so less is always more — overwatering is the most common mistake.
- Humidity
- No humidity or misting required.
- Feeding
- Feed with a balanced houseplant fertilizer once every 2–3 months during spring and summer.
Toxicity
Toxic
Yes — ZZ plants are toxic to both humans and pets. All parts of the plant contain calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause skin and eye irritation upon contact, and nausea, vomiting, or mouth irritation if ingested. Keep out of reach of children, cats, and dogs. Wash hands after handling.
