Care Instructions

Caring for Your Flowers

A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple steps to keep your South Florals arrangement looking its freshest for as long as possible.

When Your Flowers Arrive

  • Unwrap your flowers as soon as you can and remove any packaging.
  • If your arrangement arrived in a vase or container, top it up with fresh, room-temperature water right away.
  • Keep blooms out of direct sunlight, drafts, and heat while you get them settled.

Fresh-Cut Flowers

  • Trim the stems. Cut 1–2 cm off each stem at a 45° angle with a sharp knife or scissors, and re-cut every two to three days.
  • Use clean water. Fill a clean vase with fresh water and stir in the flower food provided. Change the water every two days.
  • Strip lower leaves. Remove any foliage that would sit below the waterline — submerged leaves rot and shorten vase life.
  • Choose the right spot. Display flowers away from direct sun, heating or air-conditioning vents, and ripening fruit (the ethylene gas fruit releases ages blooms quickly).

Potted Plants & Orchids

  • Water when the top of the soil feels dry to the touch — most plants prefer a thorough soak over frequent sips.
  • Orchids do best with a few ice cubes or a small splash of water once a week, plus bright, indirect light.
  • Make sure excess water can drain away; standing water leads to root rot.

Make Them Last

  • Move arrangements to a cool room overnight to extend their life.
  • Remove individual blooms as they fade so the rest of the arrangement stays healthy.
  • Mist delicate petals lightly if your home is very dry.
